The Live! News tool lets you add live content from all over the web to your broadcast. These are called "Feeds," and they pretty much mean what you might guess -- streams of the latest information about anything you can imagine. You'll get the news as fast as any of the mainstream media giants do, and you'll get information from hundreds of sources that those giants ignore. When you look through the list, you'll see what we mean.
When we say "live," we mean the news can be just minutes old. Feeds are automatically updated in your broadcast whenever the feed author updates his or her feed.
Adding feeds puts you in the editor's seat -- choosing content that you think your readers might be interested in.
To add a feed, click on the Live! News icon. On the left side of the window that opens up, you'll see a list of feeds by topic. (Click on the arrow to open a folder.) If you click on a feed you'll see a sample of its contents on the right.
PNN has thousands of feeds. To make it easier to find what you want, use the Search tab. Type in what you're looking for and hit search. If we have it, you'll see it listed in the window.
You can also add feeds that you've found on your own. Just click on the My Feeds tab and enter the feed's URL.
By using the Format tab, you can decide how you want the feed to appear on your broadcast. Some feeds have lots of articles; some have only a few. Use the arrow next to: "Show this many headlines:" to choose how many you want to show. You can also choose to show the full article (as opposed to just the headline), the posting date, and whether you want the headlines to be in bold or plain text.
Click "Add Feed" to save your changes and close the window.
The feed will be placed in your broadcast (again at the top of the column).
